De​en Dayal SPARSH Yojana​

​Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby​
Philately is the collection and study of Postage stamps. It also entails the collection, appreciation and research activities on stamps and other related philatelic products. The hobby of collecting Stamps includes seeking, locating, acquiring, organizing, cataloguing, displaying, storing, and maintaining the stamps or related products on thematic areas. Stamp collection as a hobby has lot of educational benefits as it teaches a lot about the socio economic political reality of the period in which the stamp is issued or the theme on which it is issued. Maintaining a collection can be a relaxing activity that counteracts the stress of life, while providing a purposeful pursuit which prevents boredom. The hobby leads to social connect between people with similar interests and the development of new friendships. Collecting also hones the memory skills by working on the need of the human brain to catalogue and organize information and give meaning to ones actions.​

Reinforcing the efforts aimed towards increasing the reach of Philately, the Department of Posts is launching a Scholarship Scheme called Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana to award children in the class category of Standard VI to IX. Under the Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby or Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana it is proposed to award annual scholarships to those students who have good academic record and also pursue Philately as a hobby. ​

The objective of the scholarship is to "Promote Philately among children at a young age in a sustainable manner that can reinforce and supplement the academic curriculum in addition to providing a hobby that can help them relax and de-stress".

About the plan:

Din Dayal Sparsh Yojana 2019 Information And Paripatra.Std. Scholarships will be given to students from grades 5 through 6 who have a good academic record and are interested in Philatelli as a hobby (this information is taken from the Ketanasar website) and will be given a scholarship by checking on the Philatelli quiz and Philatelli project. Every student gets Rs 500 / - per month for every year. 1,0 / - will be given for one year.

Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana launched to promote philately-Manoj Sinha 

Minister of Communications Shri Manoj Sinha today launched a Pan India scholarship program for school children called Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana to increase the reach of Philately. Under the scheme of SPARSH (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby), it is proposed to award annual scholarships to children of Standard VI to IX having good academic record and also pursuing Philately as a hobby through a competitive selection process in all postal circles. Briefing the media after the launch of the scheme, Shri Sinha said that under the scheme, it is proposed to award 920 scholarships to students pursuing Philately as a hobby.  Every Postal Circle will select a maximum of 40 scholarships representing 10 students each from Standard VI, VII, VIII & IX. The amount of Scholarship will be Rs. 6000/- per annum @ Rs. 500/- per month.

Eligibility Terms:

• A Candidate must be a student (class VI to IX) of a recognized School within India
• Concerned School should have a Philately Club and the candidate should be a member of the Club
• In case the School Philately Club hasn’t been established a student having his own Philately Deposit Account may also be considered
• A candidate must have good academic record
• At the time of selection for award of scholarship the candidate must have scored at least 60% marks or equivalent grade/ grade point in the recent final examin 2018 (i,e.V, VI, VII & VIII final exams for students studying in VI, VII, VIII & IX respectively), copies of progress report/marks card/certificate from the school authorities should be enclosed along with the application
• There will be 5% relaxation for SC/ST

Scholarship Amount

The amount of Scholarship is to be Rs. 6000/- per annum @ Rs. 500/- per month for a selected candidate. Top 40 students from Level 2 (10 students maximum from each of the VI, VII, VIII & IX Class) will be awarded scholarships

Selection Process

The Selection Process will be consisting of two levels (Level 1- Philately Written Quiz & Level- 2- Philately Project)

Application Process

• Interested candidates may submit the application to the concerned Divisional Head through Speed Post/Regd. Post or by hand in prescribed form by 20th July 2018 addressed to the concerned Divisional Head (see the list below as Annexure)
• Applications of all the interested candidates of a school can be sent in one envelope by the school incharge/head by Post or by Hand. Before sending the applications, the candidates should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria prescribed. Applications received through courier will not be entertained
• Please visit www.indiapost.gov.in and www.karnatakapost.gov.in from time to time and keep updated about the scheme, eligibility etc. Dept. reserves the right to change the dates/modify the scheme/eligibility criteria
• The decision of Chief PMG, Karnataka Circle, Bengaluru is final

Course:

* There will be MCQ type questions.
* Curriculum will be questions, history, science, sports, culture, geography and philatelic issues.
* The Philateli project should not be more than 4 to 5 pages. Students in this project can use up to sixteen more tickets and up to 500 words.

Philately Written Quiz will be a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) quiz consisting of 50 (Fifty) questions from following subject: Current Affairs, History, Science, Sports, Culture, Geography and Philately (local & national)
