The buzz for the minimum pay hike under 7th Pay Commission for Central government employees has been on rounds for some time now. If reports are to be believed, the minimum pay will be hiked to Rs 21,000 from Rs 18,000. But now the question arises – When will this happen?According to media reports, the government wants this to happen by January 2018. Earlier, it was reported that the government has finally given a green signal for the hike in minimum pay and fitment factor of the Central government employees.After this, National Anomaly Committee (NAC) and Department of Expenditure will take a final call on the matter.

After this, the National Anomaly Committee (NAC) and Department of Expenditure will take a final call on the matter. The 22-member AC panel is being headed by Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and has members of both the official and staff side.The Union Cabinet which had approved the recommendations made by the 7th Pay Commission had fixed the minimum pay at Rs 18,000, keeping in mind the fitment factor at 2.57. The government is now considering to raise the fitment factor to 3 times.However, several media reports suggested that the central government employees unions were demanding a 3.68 fitment formula.
